The firm was established by Robert Baird in 1898, and the original parchment of his admission to practice is framed in the reception area of the office in Lydiard Street. Robert's son Ken Baird joined the firm in the 1930's. The partnership was incorporated in July 2007 and there are three current Directors. Robert's grandson Andrew Baird became a partner in 1990. Neale Gribble became a partner in 2001 and Julian Houzet was appointed Director in 2011. Bill McGregor, who is now a consultant for the business, became a partner in 1961. The firm occupies two buildings which are important historic landmarks in their respective streets. Baird & McGregor's Ballarat building is of particular note being designed by distinguished colonial architect Leonard Terry in 1860. It is one of four original bank buildings which grace part of the historic city centre and is listed on the Historic Buildings Register. Today Baird & McGregor offers a complete range of legal services and prides itself on its professionalism and the personal attention offered to clients.
